Holiday Shopping!

The holidays are officially here and even though it's supposed to be a month full of love and joy, I always find it to be quite stressful. I'm a very particular person, so everything I do/buy/make has to be  exactly how I envisioned it/want it.
Meaning, I take my time with everything I do because I'm such a perfectionist and I want
everything I do to reflect that. So with the holidays just a few weeks away, I've already
started making my shopping lists for my loved ones because picking gifts for the people you
care about is a hard task. I want to make sure I'm getting them the perfect gift!

So although holiday day shopping for me is more on the stressful side than fun, I take pride in the time I spend shopping for each person in my life! After all, they are the people that mean the most to me,
so they deserve the best! Here are some holiday gift ideas that I want to get for my people and that
can help you put together your shopping list..
when it comes down to gifts, I prefer giving (and receiving) gifts-
when it comes down to clothes & accessories- that are versatile and staples!

I suggest picking key pieces for gifts (and they don't have to be expensive) , as
they'll get so much use out of them!

Right Now : Rocker Chic

For today's collage, I got inspired to freshen up the whole rocker look to a more pretty, softer look playing with pink hues, gold and metallics. It's a bit more feminine but still staying with the rocker elements of studs, skulls and leather.
How are you feelin' about a more feminine rocker-chic look? I loves.

4. max and chloe skull necklace  //   5. valentino studded flats  //   6. noir earrings (similar here)
7. bcbgmaxazria iPhone case (other cute one here)

(or check below to shop the items too... would like to know your feedback on whether you like for me to write out each item with a link or include the 'shop the look' with a slideshow below? Tell me!

p.s- I can design collages/magazine layouts all day- it's one of my favorite things to do! Now I need to go work for a magazine to do this full time.. ha.

I make them in Polyvorefor all those that always ask me!

These photos are from last week after I got my hair done at Salon Benjamin

Excited to finally share details about my hair; much requested!
Ever since I can remember, my hair has always been an important accessory to me so I made sure
to take good care of it and get it colored regularly. Now, my hair still remains a big part of my "look" but luckily with the color I have now I don't have to upkeep it that often... I say maybe
2-3 (if that) times a year with color! Yes, ombre is that low-maintence... I actually like to call it the "Victoria Secret hair look" especially because Lily Aldridge has the perfect color.

So many of you always ask what do I ask for when I get my hair done.. and if you're looking to get a similar look to mine you can just ask for a natural looking ombre (one you where they don't just dip dye your tips- that's NOT the look you want.) but more of a balayage technique where they paint sections of your hair with cotton and saran wrap that are thinner at the root and wider toward the mid section + ends. You want your hair to look like it has texture and dimension so adding some balayage pieces will create the illusion that you do plus it looks more natural than just your tips dip dyed.
(Lily Aldridge, Rachel Bilson and JSP are perfect examples of amazing ombre)

For me, since I'm naturally tanned skin, this hair color complements my skin tone nicely that's why I have yet to change it to a dramatic hair color. I know it can be expensive to get your hair done but I'm a true believer in investing in your hair- after all, it's your everyday accessory so why not
 have it look amazing.?

My tips:
DO your research. Search the web for the BEST salon near you; ask around and read reviews online.
GET a recommendation from someone you know. Often, these are the best referrals because you know whether or not you like their work through your friend's hair.
ASK a lot of questions when setting up your appointment (like do they know what balayage is? Are they familiar with doing ombre? How much? etc) Trust me, you will be surprised that most salons don't know the balayage technique or how to create a natural ombre color. You want to be prepared and know that they know what they're doing before coming in.
TAKE several photos for inspiration. It's easier to see exactly what you want with photos as reference instead of having to only explain.
MAKE sure you both know and understand the pricing for what you're getting done. There's nothing more annoying that going in thinking you're getting charged a specific price and then come out paying double without being let know.

WHERE I GET IT DONE:
Lastly, I recently got my hair cut and colored and I'm loving the refreshed look!
I got it done atSalon Benjamin in Los Angeles- amaaaaaazing and can't stress you
enough how rad the place is.
I'm extremely particular when cutting my hair, that's why I almost never cut it.. but
Mr. Benjamin Mohapi, director of the salon, is a true genius. He took about 15-20 mins
to consult with me first about my hair and he made me understand what he was doing
to my hair and the kind of hair I had before he started to work. He made me believe in cutting
my hair again- he's that amazing at what he does. I always cut my hair in a 'V' shape, this helps give me
long layers and it looks prettier when waving out my hair (more on that soon).
Deanna Beavers worked on my color and love that she added lighter pieces (will get lighter with the sun) around my face to help frame it better.

So there you have it, hair tips and where I get it done! If you have any more questions,
feel free to ask in the comments!
Check out Salon Benjamin and book your cut with Benjamin and Deanna for color!
Tell them I said Hi when you go in!

So happy I got to work with Kat Harris- she's incredibly talented and so sweet!
Thanks Kat for shooting these cute photos!

As much as I love wearing sneakers and laid-back looks, I'm such a sucker for anything boho like fedoras, ankle boots and layered jewelry. I haven't worn this favorite fedora of mine in a while and since I don't have blunt bangs anymore, thought it'd go perfectly with my new amazingly rad boots!

This boho meets chic look definitely represents the west coast, a la Nicole Richie! So with a month already approaching to Cotton's Road to the Runway campaign, it's super exciting to know the Style Search Squad is finally making its way to the West! Woo-hoo! I'm so happy to see my folks from Cotton on my home turf...i will help them hunt down the best style in LA next week! So if you're in LA, make sure to come out to hang with us and have your photo taken for America's Style Gallery and a chance to win!

Don't fret if we are not near you, you can upload your look here to participate! C'mon, do it! Let's see what region has the best style!

Stay updated with the campaign via our social media: @cottonfashion + @sincerelyjules on Twitter... and i'll see those in LA on December 9th!

Dressing down a pretty fancy sequin jacket can be a little challenging but what always works for me is always pairing it with basics to help balance the fancy with the easiness of staples like your favorite tee and jeans. A simple pony tail definitely was the icing on the cake for a long day of Christmas shopping with my parents!

Note to self: Experiment more with different hairstyles... I just wish I could whip out amazing looks but the fact of the matter is that I'm terrible; only thing I've perfected is the messy waves.. and well I can't go wrong with that, I guess.

Lately, I've been kinda dressing for the holidays- from knitted ivory sweaters to corduroys to sequins and now plaid! Didn't know it was this fun to dress for the holidays- obviously I try and make my looks more day-time appropriate so that I don't look crazy wearing sequins in the middle of the day!

Anyway, I was excited to have Cotton's Style Search Squad here in LA this past weekend at the Grove. It was so much fun hanging with them and approaching people that we thought had awesome style so we can snap their photo! It felt different being on the other side of the camera this time, but definitely enjoyed it! The West brought such a relax yet cool style to the Grove this weekend, check out the submissions so far HERE.

To my WEST folks, upload your looks HERE.. we gotta represent because the Road to the Runway is almost over!

Out of all the prints out there, leopard always wins my heart (and stripes!) because of it's versatility. My strategy for buying things is always two main components:
a) has to be comfortable and b) it has to be versatile.

It's important to buy things that will be constantly on rotation all year long for me and leopard is a classic print that will always be in season, every season, so I'm constantly reaching for it when I'm out shopping. Whether it's in shoes, bags or clothes, it's become my go-to print for when I want to stand out and mix things up! For me, most of the time leopard acts like a neutral- it works well with just about anything; you can either play it safe or funky it up by mixing different prints and colors with it.
I've collected quite the collection of leopard print things and my shoe game went from just sandals to having it in every kind of shoe.

How do you feel about the print? Is it your fave?

As the Road to the Runway campaign continues, we are in the last stages for submissions (can't believe it) ! As one of the Fashion Influencers of the campaign, I've been delighted to see my region submit amazing looks (go West, check it out here!). And in the process, I've learned to pay closer attention to the fabrics i'm wearing too, which I've learned to appreciate more.

My DBA© motto in which we made into a sweatshirt (so happy about that) was the perfect cotton piece to complete my office-chic look.
Also, I'm proud to say that my Dream Believe Achieve© motto is finally copy written! Took a while but we finally did it !

Submit your look or link up with Cotton's Style Search Squad near you to have your picture taken to be entered for a chance to win $2,500 and a VIP trip to South Beach for Cotton's 24 Hour Runway Show! Doesn't get better than that.
